MADE IN LONDON

We are designers and makers. All of our products are designed and hand made in our North London workshop and while most of our clients are based in our home town, we also provide our services to the surrounding areas.

Unique and fully bespoke is what we offer you. We are not limited to a range of styles, materials or sizes, instead we tailor our products to each client.

Your style. Your choice.

Our cabinet makers use only the highest quality materials to hand make each product to order. Every project is seen through from initial cutting list to completed installation by the same craftsman, we believe this leads to a more thorough, superior product.

We welcome you to come and visit our studio and workshop - if you're interested in the making process of your bespoke furniture you can come and have a look at it while it's being handmade by our master cabinet makers.

Commissioning anything bespoke and choosing the right company for you can be unnerving. The vast majority of our work is generated through recommendations from previous clients. This is due to the personable service we provide and the immaculately handcrafted bespoke products we produce.

Read through our reviews and then give us a call or email us using the contact details below. We work at the higher end of the bespoke furniture market and our prices reflect this. Kitchens start at £35k, wardrobes at £10k.

The process stages shown below are designed to illustrate the flow of a typical project and the payment schedules.

OUR PROCESS

INTRODUCTION

STAGE ONE

DESIGN MEETING

We can come to you at work or even meet in a coffee shop but where possible we would like to view the space in question. In our initial meeting we need to gather as much information from you as we can: images of similar items, storage needs, material choices... the more you can supply the clearer we will understand what you want and like. Don't worry if you haven't got a fully developed idea, we just need to get a feel for your style and requirements. Shortly after our meeting we'll give you a guide price.

STAGE TWO

PRESENTED DESIGN

Assuming you're happy with the guide price you will instruct us to proceed to the chargeable design stage. At an agreed time after our initial meeting we will have your conceptual design ready for you to look at in the form of technical drawings and 3D renders. We can make any amendments you like and once we have an agreed design in place we'll give you a firm quotation and lead-time. We ask for a 50% deposit, schedule the project in and then we move on to the production stage...

STAGE THREE

PRODUCTION

This is where Alistair and the team hand make your masterpiece. They are excellent and so is our workshop environment. We will send you photos of the production as it happens, after all, it's important that you get as excited as we do about this process. We fully construct everything in the workshop to make sure it all fits together perfectly, then we take it apart, sand it, clean it, apply the necessary finishes, label it and get it ready for delivery and installation in your home.

STAGE FOUR

INSTALLATION

One week before installation we ask for another 25% of the project fee. The cabinet maker who made your product will be the same one who installs it. We pride ourselves on treating your home with the upmost respect. We do create some mess, that's inevitable, but we thoroughly clean it all up at the end of each day. We try very hard to make this stage as painless as possible for you. Once we're totally finished and you are completely happy you pay the balance.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Does your project require more than just our beautiful furniture? Do you also need some walls removing, or a complete redecoration, or something else? For an additional fee (the scale of which depends on the size and complexity of your project) we can source, instruct and liaise throughout the process with whatever trade you need, tapping into our vast range of reliable and trusted contacts. Taking the hassle out of it for you.

COLLABORATION

We often work in collaboration with furniture designers, interior designers, architects, artists, contractors and engineers. We can take your concept and develop it into a viable product or if you already have a fully developed design we will fabricate and install it flawlessly, within budget and on time.

WORKSHOP RENTAL

In 2004 when Alistair and Joe began Williams Ridout they rented bench space in communal workshops, first in Dalston and then Kings Cross. These types of facilities enable start-ups to launch their business without the huge expense of acquiring and equipping a cabinet maker's workshop.

As soon as they were able they set up their own workshop and are currently in their third premises. Going full circle, they now rent out space to other individuals in the bespoke furniture industry. They have plans to open another shared workshop in the near future to run in conjunction with the current one in North London.
