A kitchen shaped by the room, rather than a standard range
A kitchen often sits at the centre of a house, but its design needs to respond to much more than appearance alone. The proportions of the room, circulation, storage and the way it will be used all influence the eventual layout.
Our kitchens are designed individually, without predetermined cabinet sizes or standard configurations. This allows cabinetry, appliances and storage to be resolved as part of the architecture, rather than fitted around an existing range.
Materials and details are developed alongside the layout, from worktops and timber finishes to drawer interiors, handles and lighting. Each kitchen is then made in our North London workshop and installed by our own team.
Joinery Details
The smaller details that give furniture its character
Much of the character of bespoke furniture is found at a smaller scale: the profile of a handle, the edge of a shelf, the construction of a drawer or the junction between two different materials.
These details are often quiet, but rarely incidental. They are considered alongside the larger proportions of a piece and developed according to the material, construction and way the furniture will be used.
Joinery Details brings together a selection of these elements from recent projects, offering a closer view of the cabinetry, hardware, materials and finishes behind the finished rooms.
Furniture designed for a particular room and purpose
Bespoke furniture can respond to a room in ways that standard pieces rarely can, whether occupying an awkward recess, extending across an entire wall or forming part of a wider architectural scheme.
Our work ranges from libraries, studies and home bars to media cabinetry, display furniture and individual freestanding pieces. Each begins with its own set of requirements rather than an established format.
Timber and veneer frequently sit alongside stone, metal, glass and painted finishes, with proportions, storage and construction developed specifically for the setting and intended use.

Wardrobes planned from the inside out
A well-planned wardrobe begins with its interior. Clothing, shoes and accessories each require different forms of storage, and understanding those requirements allows the available space to be used intelligently.
We make fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms in both traditional and contemporary settings, with hanging space, drawers, shelving, lighting and internal fittings developed around the individual client.
Externally, the cabinetry can become part of the architecture of the room or read as a distinct piece of furniture, with materials and detailing chosen accordingly.
Material Palettes
Materials considered as part of the design from the outset
Materials are considered from the beginning of a project, rather than applied as a decorative layer once the design has been resolved.
Our work incorporates a broad material palette, selected according to the character and practical requirements of each project.
Timber, stone, metal and painted surfaces behave differently in changing light, and subtle variations in grain, texture and sheen can alter the relationship between them. Physical samples allow those combinations to be assessed together and in the context of the wider interior.

The finished photograph tells only part of the story.
Our Journal looks more closely at the thinking and making behind the work, from the proportions of a home library and the planning of a kitchen to material selection, cabinetry and some of the less visible decisions involved in making furniture to order.
It also gives us space to explore individual projects and subjects in greater detail than a portfolio page allows.

Projects come to us at different stages. Some begin with a complete architectural scheme, while others start with little more than a room and an idea of what it needs to become.
We work directly with homeowners as well as architects and interior designers, and can become involved from the early stages of a project or develop joinery within an established interior scheme.
